6 Installation of the "client" version
Installation is the same as for the single-station version of the program. Unlike the server version, the Firebird server is not installed. After the installation, it is not necessary to restart the computer - we immediately start the program. Install the program "as administrator" with the antivirus disabled. After launching, a window appears, into which we enter the IP address of the server and the path where the program is installed on the server, for example: C:\Program files\Infolab\TachoSpeed. The IP address of the server can be obtained by typing the "ipconfig" command in the "command line", and then the IP address is read from the "IPv4 address" line, e.g. 192.168.100.100. You must also enter license numbers, and then activate Tachospeed online or by phone through the Technical Support Department (phone: 32 70 70 440).
In addition, copy the Bazy.xml file from the server computer (default path: C:/Program Files (x86)/Infolab/Tachospeed), and then replace the Bazy.xml file on the client computer (default path: C:/Program Files (x86)/Infolab/Tachospeed). We perform these operations with Tachospeed turned off.
If we have done everything correctly, the program should start up and access the database. Again, in the client version there is a difference between the unlimited and limited version. In the database selection window, you should specify the exact path to the database, not just the path to the directory where the program is installed.
The most common problems when installing the client version
the program was not installed with antivirus disabled and "as administrator" on the administrator account
firewall zainstalowany na komputerze klienckim, który blokuje programowi Tachospeed łączenie się z serwerem na porcie 3050;
Incorrectly specified server IP address (spaces, dots, etc., wrong address);
incorrectly specified path - it is a mistake to share a directory and specify it as the path. We must remember that it is to be the path on the server, that is, the path that was entered on the server. In the unlimited version we give the path to the file and in the limited version we give the path to the directory where the program is installed on the server;
a typical network problem - no connection to the network where the server is; a misconfigured network card, etc...;
Typical hardware problem - network card not working, network cable pulled out, router turned off, etc.
Different database version (the client version is lower than the database version) - the problem occurs when trying to restore an older version of the program to a newer database installed on the server.
